About Christine
The Athlete
Christine is an Olympic Champion who has carried the same focus, curiosity, and sense of purpose that defined her athletic career into the world of urban planning. After winning on the world stage—an Olympic gold, an Olympic silver, eight World Championship titles, and two world records—she shifted her energy toward shaping cities and communities with intention and care.
The Major Projects Planner
Christine’s planning practice spans parks, recreation, culture, placemaking, and long‑range planning. She is multidisciplinary by nature—curious, collaborative, and energized by working with diverse experts. Her experience in land use, policy, transportation planning, community engagement, and rightsholders consultation is grounded in the same values that shaped her athletic career: teamwork, trust, and excellence.
The Researcher
Her master’s research bridges her two worlds, exploring how Olympic and Paralympic host cities transform Games‑time facilities into community‑oriented legacies. She focused in particular on how Athlete Villages can evolve into lasting sources of affordable and social housing. She believes deeply in the potential of the Games to strengthen the cities and regions that host them.
The Voice
Christine is guided by a love of learning; always looking for meaningful ways to collaborate, contribute, and grow. This spirit led her to join the broadcast team for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, where she will provide speed skating and short track colour commentary for Olympic Broadcasting Services. She serves as Chair of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s OLY Canada Commission and shares her experience through mentoring, leadership development, and strategic planning—continuing to bring the values of sport into every space she works in.
